Blow Fire
Learn this dangerous and exciting fire art.
Drew teaches you his favorite party trick.
Albeit this is a "How-to," we discourage you from trying anything mentioned in this article. Note: Fire-breathing is the most dangerous of the fire arts and the best way to learn it is from an expert. I am not responsible.

Alcohol is a plausible alternative, but it is quite dangerous, so I would avoid that as well. Paraffin is the safest fuel reccomended by most proffesional fire-breathers. I use this I am not necessarily reccomending that though, cause if you screw up, I don't want it to be on my hands. But it's what I use, it works for me. I haven't been using it very long, but according to the MSDS it won't give you cancer, which is always a plus.

Next you need to find binding for your torches. I reccomend the 1/8" Diameter Fire Eating Cord Kevlar(tm) wicking from www.dube.com. Don't use cotton as it can burn through and unravel in your mouth.
Next you need to find the stick mechanism of the torch. I use barbeque skewers, but many things will work. I have seen everything from bowling pins to special customized torches used. Just make sure it won't catch fire.
Also, find a container to put your fuel in, and another container for water.
Next look up how to do "whipping" knots. There are plenty of instructions all over the internet. This will be how you bind your torches.
A final necessary tool is a trained expert. He will probably make you start practicing spitting water. The trick is to learn to spit the water in such a way as to atomize all the particle. So go, and practice for an hour or so just spitting water, or fuel, but without a flaming torch. Take in large breaths, then pour some water (and later fuel) in your mouth. The let it explode out of your mouth in a ball of vapor. Make sure to keep exhaling after all the fuel is gone and then pause for a good moment when your out of breathe before you start inhaling again, otherwise you could breathe in the flame and it would collapse your lungs.
When you're ready to move up to real fuel and flame. Find two friends. Have one hold a slightly moist towel while the other one is prepared to dial 911 on their cell phone. Find an area with ground that will not catch fire or absorb fuel. Also, make sure it isn't slippery. MAKE SURE THE WIND IS AGAINST YOUR BACK. Take in a deep breath. POUR (don't sip/suck) some of the fuel into your mouth. Hold the torch up at a 60-80 degree angle. Tilt your head back. And spit with all your might like you practiced. The flame will be loud, bright, and hot. Put out your torche, and go contemplate what you've done.
We did in the park and by the time we started we had a crowd of about 7 ppl 2 of which were drunk.
